So I've been away from the news for a couple of weeks because of moving house. And I heard about some anti-government protests in Iran. But my knowledge ends there.

Quick rundown of what I should know about the situation that's currently unfolding?

Edit: thanks for the replies so far. Here’s what I think I’ve learned so far (feel free to correct me). There’s some super strict laws for women. In the religion of Islam, women are supposed to wear headscarves. The religious government forced all women to do this. There’s a new trend of women protesting this rule, and the police beat up a woman for this and she died. The president of the country said something about women not following the rules of the religion, which made a lot of people very angry. Now everyone is protesting the government. The police are killing a lot of the protesters.
