I was nearly mugged in Atlanta feeling very frustrated

I’m 22 years old, have lived in the north my entire life and was visiting Atlanta this past week for a conference and was staying in downtown. I have a concealed carry permit for my state but it’s not recognized by Georgia.

I was walking back to my hotel around 7:30pm and noticed some guy crossing the street when he noticed me walking towards him. He stops right in front of me asks me “what’s good” which I sensed something was wrong. I tried to cross the street and he grabs me and says “I’m not done talking to you yet”. At this point I’m on high alert, he was slightly bigger than me and my gut told me to get out of there because he might have a gun. I started backing up and saying I’m not trying to fight you. He says “fuck it” and runs across the street into the city.

I was honestly frustrated I couldn’t legally carry in a city where I feel like I absolutely needed to. Atlanta is a very sketchy city, I saw 3 homeless people in one hour while walking around. I try to avoid any conflict and this makes me not want to visit Georgia ever again. Just sharing my story
