My brother's friend started a smart phone app venture and I got my money back, but he got into huge debt of $200 thousand to a private investor?

Throwaway account to speak more freely. I had invested $80 thousand in my brother's friend's mobile app venture in 2015, because my brother was working as a tester there at that time. I came to know from my brother that they got a big check from a private investor, so I asked for my money back, and got it back too, but my brother's friend got all of his savings sucked in the app, and he also got into debt of $200 thousand to a private investor. Not sure how he is going to pay back all this money, I don't think he is gonna pay it back.
