How do I get my girlfriend to knock off this annoying habit?

I met my girlfriend at a bar that I visited occasionally. I was immediately drawn to her bright pink hair.

The first time I talked to her, was while she was on stage being absolutely phenomenal at Karaoke. So much so, that everyone was staring at her. She was a real show stopper.

I asked her out and we started seeing each other. I learned that she was into some pretty “weird” stuff, but you know what, she was fun. And that was enough for me.

I’d never been in a serious relationship, and I never really thought about what a relationship looked like. But I was happy to be with her, whenever she wanted to see me.

It wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago, that I started to notice one of her habits. It was a bit strange, and annoying.

She had this thing where she touched her nose a lot. It was a small thing, really, and I can’t imagine it was even noticeable to anyone else, but I noticed it. Sometimes, she’d even tap her nose. And it drove me absolutely crazy!

I didn’t say anything to her about it at first. I figured if it didn’t stop, eventually, I’d bring it up. But it never stopped.

One night as we sat together on the couch watching a movie, I could feel myself getting more and more annoyed by the habit. Every time she’d do it, my anger would grow.

Finally, I just said it. I said “Can you stop doing that?”

She looked at me and startled. She didn’t seem like she knew what I was talking about.

“What?” She asked.

“Why do you keep touching your nose like that? You do it all the time.”

She sighed heavily, then just sat back into the couch and watched the rest of the movie.

“Don’t do that again,” she said, coldly.

I couldn’t believe she’d snapped at me like that. But I loved her, and I couldn’t imagine living without her, so I brushed it off. And the night went on as usual.

But she was distant. She wasn’t her usual bubbly, goofy self. She barely even talked to me, and it was obvious she was still upset with me.

That night, she didn’t want to have sex. She said she was just too tired, and I know that it was just an excuse. But she looked touched when I offered to make her a McDonalds run, and I was determined to get her back in a good mood.

I looked up the nearest McDonalds, set the address in Google maps, and headed out the door. But when I did, I noticed something that would change everything.

She was in the kitchen, and she was staring right at me. She tapped her nose once, twice, then three times.

I didn’t know what that meant, it didn’t seem to mean anything. But if I’m being honest, it made me very uncomfortable. She continued to stare, then she started to weirdly shuffle around the kitchen.

I decided I didn’t want to wait around and find out what she was doing, and I hastily left the house. I didn’t even tell her I was leaving, I was so weirded out.

I thought about her the entire time I was out. Even when I got back and handed her the food, I didn’t say a word. I knew I’d overreacted, and I wanted to apologize, but I just couldn’t.

She opened the food, saw that it was chicken nuggets, and smiled.

“I got 20 piece,” I said, trying to sound normal.

“Why would I want to eat 20 nuggets?” She asked.

“Well, you can just eat them over the course of a few days, then,” I answered.

She looked at me like I was crazy.

“Then why wouldn’t I just buy 4 nuggets then?” She asked.

“Well, 20 are cheaper. You can get more for less.”

She sighed.

Then she touched her nose.

“Why did you do that?” I asked, curiously.

“Because I’m hungry, and I don’t feel like waiting,” she answered, as though that was a perfectly normal response.

“Will you please stop doing that?” I asked, not even caring how rude I sounded. She was freaking me out and I wasn’t going to take it anymore.

She stared at me the way she had in the kitchen. It was so intense, it felt like she was looking *through* me.

“Please,” she said.

I didn’t know what to say. I was about to answer “no” and just walk away, but then I thought about the way she looked at me when I came home with her nuggets. I wanted to see that smile again, so bad.

So I answered “yes.”

She never elaborated on what that meant, she just smiled and said thanks.

I smiled back, and before I knew it, she’d already eaten a third of the nuggets.

“Wow, you really were hungry,” I said.

“I am,” she said.

I never saw her touch her nose again. After that, it was like she’d forgotten all about the habit. I started to think she’d never even had one in the first place, that it was all in my head.

But the truth is, it didn’t matter that she had a weird habit. I loved her. I was happy.

I was ready to spend the rest of my life with her.

And I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
