I'm not an enemy. I've been trying for years to understand high fantasy and I simply don't get it.

I imagine a world where magic exists. It would instantly start changing things about our world in it's most basic ways.

For example, I know how hard it is to make a house. I've done it. It's a lot of work. If magic existed, I would ask magic to make me a house and not worry about it. I imagine with some difficulty, there would be magical housing. I wouldn't have to build my own house or work a job just to afford a house. Magic would have fixed that. With magic, I imagine you could magic food and water. Anything that you wanted. You could magic yourself healthy.

I don't see how any of the things that are hard about our world would exist in a magical world. I can't understand how a magical world would be anything like ours, which makes it hard for me to get excited about the concept.

Can someone help me get high fantasy? I really want to explore it. I just don't understand how magic, which is essentially wish fulfillment, would coexist with the problems of our world.
