$4500 a month

Right now I am living in a 1150 sqft house with 2 bedrooms, a living room, office, kitchen dining room combo and two bathrooms. I have a 3 car driveway, and a 7x8 ft back patio. I live in a relatively affluent area. I pay $2500/month. And I feel like I’m living in luxury.

Recently I had to get a new credit card and I signed up for the Amex platinum. It gives me $200 every month to spend at a single grocery store chain. So I can buy everything there if I want. There are plenty of them where I live so I don’t have to drive too far to go to the store.

I also get $300/month from my employer to spend wherever I want.

Right now I’m struggling financially because my ex wife wants to buy a house and she hasn’t saved up for it. I have to help her out because she’s not very good at budgeting. We’re still pretty good friends. But I’m living paycheck to paycheck.

I make $70,000/year. I was thinking. If I can live like this for 2500$ a month now, what could I do if I had even more money?

It really is a first world problem but it feels like I’m barely scraping by when I have so much. I feel guilty because I want to start saving for my kids college but I need money for everything else first. I really don’t feel like I can cut corners anymore. I’m already always at work, and at home I’m always busy because I have two kids.

What would you do if you had $4500 a month to spend on you?
