$0.25 to use the microwave

I currently live in Germany. At the school I teach at here a student came to me yesterday and asked if he could use the microwave. I said yes, he asked how much and what a bizarre question that was. I told him it’s free. He said back to me that at his other school it was $0.25 to use the microwave. I he never heard of this, has anybody heard of this before?<br><br>Also, there are no microwaves in the cafeteria but they have two microwaves for the football team. ??
