For me the most positive thing about cooking

I believe that the most positive thing about cooking is when it is done for someone else. I don't mean the ones that are paid for it. I mean the family members, the girlfriends, the one on one cooking for the others. For me, there is a "love" in this act. The kind of selfless love that I believe is the origin of all kinds of love. You gather the ingredients, do the math, do the cooking and the presentation, think about the others, do it all with no intention of any return. Yes, you can expect to get something back, but that something is not always what you want. But still, you do it. You do it because you want to do it. And maybe, just maybe, the others do it for the same reasons.

I have been cooking for myself and for the others for more than a decade now. I saw so many people giving me a chance to cook for them, and so many people leaving my kitchen after giving me a chance. But the ones that stay are the ones that matter. And for me, the selfless love of cooking has the same power to bring people together as a prayer, or a protest, or a support movement, or a political movement. Sometimes I am a chef and sometimes I am the cook, sometimes I do it well and sometimes I do it bad, but every time I do it for the others. And maybe, just maybe, I get it right most of the times. I have been doing this for more than five years together with the same people. I grew up with them, I grew old with them, I made my bonds stronger with them and with the ones that came after them, and together we grew up and grew old together. And I believe that no matter what happens in the future, that "us" will always be there as it was for five years already, and for five years more. And I believe and hope that we will be "us" forever.
