I’m tired of hearing about the horrors of flying in the US

I just returned from a weekend in Miami. I flew American Airlines, a carrier I generally don’t have much praise for, from Boston Logan (BOS). My flight from BOS was delayed (not for an insane amount of time), and the flight was completely full of rowdy passengers. Things weren’t great, and I certainly would not have called it a good flight.

But the idea that flying in the US is completely broken and not fun anymore is… wrong. There’s nothing broken about any of that, beyond the occasional delays and their common causes (weather, etc). Some delay now and again is just part of the history (and, importantly, future) of air travel.

The people saying air travel now is some abhorrent catastrophe are exaggerating and prone to sensationalism.
