Should I include multiple Riverdale references in my first chapter?

So I used to watch Riverdale. I'm not really watching it anymore, but I kind of miss the dark drama and mystery it had. I decided to write my own story inspired by it. I tried to write my own characters as well, but I made them quite similar, in the context of relationships. I also hinted at the fact that I've watched Riverdale, and that's been a problem for some readers.

My editor has gotten through my first chapter and has told me that there are two references she caught (I've got two more that I know of that are spread out all throughout my story) in the first chapter where the characters have made remarks that are similar to remarks made by the Riverdale characters in a similar situation. The editor hasn't batted an eye at it so far, but mentioned that if I wanted to make sure the story felt mine, I should pull the references and instead try to come up with my own dialogue that kind of matches the feeling of it.

I understand where this advice is coming from, but I feel like it's a bit overkill. I'm honestly just trying to share a story because it was a great creative outlet for me and would love for it to be successful. I'm not trying to steal anything from anyone. I did try to come up with my own dialogue first, but after I wrote it, I realized that the dialogue I came up with actually sounded similar to the Riverdale dialogue. I haven't been able to come up with anything else that I can get to that standard, which is why I decided to just use the similar dialogue.

I feel like this is kind of a sensitive topic in the writing community, and I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on fan fiction and references and the idea of borrowing from other writers. I've heard some people say that it's okay to borrow because it's all about interpretation and that's what makes it your own work, and I've heard some people say that it's completely unoriginal and rude to the other writers to do.

I want to make sure to do the right thing by the other writers and by my own work, but I also don't want to overdo it by deleting the dialogue altogether. It's part of the scene that sets up the rest of the story, and I can't believe my own words if I was to just make it up.
