What just happened...

I've never posted here before but I'm a long time lurker and just witnessed something that shook me up a bit. I'm still sitting here in awe honestly. <br><br>So I'm currently on vacation in Australia. I'm an American, specifically from Brooklyn. I'm staying in a hotel in Melbourne with my honey, P. Anyway, we were on our way home from dinner and we made a stop at a gas station convenience store. P was in the car and I went into the store. There were two woman working at the register. They weren't wearing masks and neither did any of the other people inside besides me. No idea if it's a new thing here or if they just don't give a shit. I don't really care either way, just pointing out facts. <br><br>Anyway. I purchase my things, turn around and walk to the door to leave and see a man and a woman standing by the door. She was blocking the entire door while he was standing to the side behind here. I said "excuse me" so I could get by her and she didn't move. I said "excuse me, again" and she still didn't move. I thought maybe she had poor hearing or didn't speak English well so I asked her to move again and she didn't. I finally said "can I get out?" to which she said "no you can't". I was getting pissed and confused at this point. I asked her again to move and let me out and she wouldn't budge. <br><br>My instinct kicked in at this point. I'm a classic New Yorker, we don't take kindly to people in our personal space.<br><br>I turned around to the workers and said "I'm being held up here! Can you help me?" They looked up at me, her, then back at me then one of them said "yeah sorry, sometimes we get weird people in here". <br><br>At that moment, the woman finally gave me a tiny bit of space to squeeze past her and get out. She said to me "you ever heard of closed captioning on your TV?" And I said "yes". She said "turn it on. Watch cartoons. And watch some porn." I told her to fuck off and went to my car, completely bewildered. <br><br>Am I being pranked? Is she a troll? I don't get it. <br><br>So, weird Melbourne closed caption woman, let's not meet again.<br><br>Edit: Thank you everyone for your input and for the gold! It was very generous of you!
