"AI is a fascist plot to kill jobs"?

I'm an unemployed uni graduate who is currently working towards a professional license. I hope I can find a good job once I have that license, but I don't have high expectations.

I wanted to top up my skills for future job interviews, and I got recommended ChatGPT and I tried it just for kicks. I was blown away by how useful and accurate it was. I used it for making flowcharts, helping me proofread my essay (I write like a 1st grader), helping me edit my resume, and even making diagrams about how my dad's business model can be improved.

I told a girl from my class about it and she told me that "this is going to kill jobs and wreck your future". I was a bit confused. How would a tool that helps me get a job wreck my future?

The "no jobs for future" thing was an argument I heard way back in the early 00s regarding the internet, and a few decades ago regarding electrification and automation. So I don't think this would be a thing.

Is there something going on that I don't understand?
