What do you wish you knew before becoming a teacher?

I'm a student teacher right now. Started in February, and I have two more semesters after this one ends. I've heard it said that student teaching doesn't really prepare you for your first year of teaching. I want to hear from people who have been in the game for a while. What do you wish you had known, and what should I do to prepare for this job?
