A big brand bottled ketchup is cheap and convenient. There’s been a lot of talk about how a bottle of ketchup has almost no nutritional value and terrible ingredients, from high fructose corn syrup to preservatives.

Many people argue that homemade ketchup is much healthier for you, and tastes better. But it’s a lot more expensive and more hassle. It also has to be kept refrigerated which takes up valuable space.

I used to make my own ketchup, but the last time I did, I calculated how cheap each batch would be, and it almost quadrupled the price. Realistically, you can make ketchup for 1/4 the price of your average homade, but it’s still almost double in price for something that’s still not as tasty.

There’s also organic ketchup, which is a cheaper alternative to making your own, and has far less ingredients than commercial ketchup does. Many of them contain sugar too and can be very expensive. Organic ketchup can also be cheap, depending on where you get it.

Many people argue that ketchup is too unhealthy and serves no nutritional value anyways, and that there are too many preservatives and additives in it. You can always make your own, but will it be worth it?
