Meet Eric. <br><br>Eric is a middle aged, depressed, has been writer, living with his wife and two kids. He won a writing contest in 1982 that granted him a 2 month stay at a mysterious, isolated, resort called the Overlook. <br><br>His family with him, Eric is expected to write for the Overlook for those 2 months straight. <br><br>Upon arrival, he’s greeted by the Overlook staff and is given a tour of the premises. Excited to work in the famous study room, he’s greeted by Stevie King himself. <br><br>Stevie congratulates Eric on winning the contest, and explains that he will be the last writer that the Overlook hosts. Stevie then explains that the resort is now going to be turned into an asylum for the mentally ill. He warns Eric to be careful, and watch his family. <br><br>Eric shrugs it off, while his family moves in. He gets to work right away. The pressure to write is stressful, and he’s writing garbage. <br><br>His son Jamie starts to complain about the resort, and Eric loses his temper. He strikes Jamie, and then begins to drink heavily. A few nights in, his daughter Susie goes missing. <br><br>In a panick, Eric searches for Susie, but can’t find her. He finds a hidden bunker, and starts to go nosedive into conspiracy theories. <br><br>The Overlook staff approach him, and tell him that he needs to calm down. They lock him in his room, and start pumping in gas. <br><br>Waking up groggy and disoriented, he finds Susie in his room. She’s different. He tries to talk to her, but she’s catatonic. He tries to embrace her, but she’s dead. <br><br>The staff enters again, and this time they take Susie. Eric is frantic. He demands to see his wife. They tell him that she’s not there anymore. <br><br>Eric is lost. He thinks back to Stevie’s words. He falls to the ground in tears. <br><br>A few hours later, he’s picked up by security, and put back in his room. <br><br>Eric sits at the desk. He starts to write. Words flow onto the page. His best work. <br><br>This is a tale of the fall of Eric into darkness. While he writes, the words on the page come to life. <br><br>Meet Eric.
