Just spent 15 minutes doing prayers and talking to a Muslim woman in a women's washroom at the airport in Atlanta.

I'm a Canadian woman and am currently in the United States. I'm waiting for my connecting flight when I go into the women's washroom to pee. It's been a long flight so I've left my carry on bags in the lounge with my mom. I walk in and realise I don't have any tissues and this stall has no toilet paper. There's an Indian/Middle Eastern woman in the next stall, I don't want to walk out and go to the next stall so I talk to this woman and explain the situation to her. She says no worries and hands me a bunch of tissues through the stall.

After a few minutes of me being in there, she's still in there too and she says, "Are you OK? Do you still need more tissues?" I explain I'm good and just lost the tissues I got. By this point, I've realised she's clearly Muslim (wears a hijab and clearly from a Middle Eastern country) and I remember I've got a prayer book in my pocket that I carry with me everywhere I go. I explain I'm actually a Christian and I'm going to say prayers and then the woman says she is also going to do the same. It was so peaceful. I was praying (no shouting, just to myself) and I could hear her praying in Arabic. I felt like I was in some type of movie and it was just really cool how we could both do our things peacefully and together.

After a few minutes of us both being in there, I tell her I'm going to head out and she says she will do the same. When we exit our stalls, the woman to my left (who is clearly American) has been listening to our whole conversation and is completely disgusted. I go and wash my hands and the woman from the stall is next to me so we continue our conversation. She asks who I am, where I'm from, etc. and she tells me she's from Iraq and lives in Washington. We exchange nice words and both wish each other safe travels and go our own ways.

I felt like it was crazy and I wanted to share this on Reddit.

Edit: Wow, you guys really love me. I just got back to Canada and saw this post was blowing up. Thank you all that took the time to read my story and comment. It's crazy that I just woke up and my post is blowing up. Thank you all for the rewards and I look forward to reading every comment I got. I'm just going to watch Netflix and read now :)
