Is it possible to automate a task to make it run within a specified time?

Hey there, I'm trying to run a system call with curl to upload a file to a web service, but it's taking too long to get a response. Is it possible to automate a task to make it run within a specified time, or is it just something you can't control? If there's no way to make it faster, do you have any better alternatives? Thanks!
