How do I do well here and get my work effectively critiqued?

So I sometimes see a lot of posts with obvious mistakes and typos and stuff, that shouldn't be here. I wanna make sure that I don't annoy people with my own typos when I post here, and I would also like to get the best possible critiques/rating. I'm not sure if all the things I need to do to get a good critique is posted somewhere. Does anyone know of a good guide?
If I'm calling it wrong and the only thing you need to do is posting it, and the critiquers will be more lenient for a first timer or not, I'd like to know as well.

I'm planning to put my first novel here on the weekend if I get an answer by then.
