I eventually got caught

I had a 100% success rate on my anonymous shoplifting until I met my wife.

I was busted at a store that I had been shoplifting at for 10 years. Just as I was about to walk out, I was stopped and arrested. Come to find out, it was a male and female loss prevention team that has been watching me for a month. I was arrested, charged with a felony, and ordered to stay away from it.

It just so happens that my wife used to work at this establishment and she knew a few of the people that I dealt with in the LP office. Not only was I arrested, but my wife also found out that I was a common shoplifter.

The LP people knew that she was my wife so they didn't say anything. A few weeks later, my wife received a phone call and it was a former co-worker. She told my wife that she saw me at the police station and that she couldn't believe it.

My wife flipped out and the lady told her that she shouldn't be telling her this but she really liked her and didn't want to see her get hurt. She made my wife promise not to say anything about our conversation. Needless to say, my wife was not a happy camper. I lied to her and said that I was doing it for my friend that owed a lot of money to some people and that he needed to sell the stuff to pay the people off.

She didn't believe me and she said that the lady that called her told her that they had been watching me for over a month and that I was a smooth thief. I didn't know what else to say, so I just told her that I was in a tight spot and I really had to do it. I told her that it was over and there is no more shoplifting.

I showed her the court papers and everything. I promised her that I wouldn't do it again and I really meant it. I was so terribly hurt that she would think that I was a common thief because I wasn't. I just did it for the thrill and I didn't need the money.

I was so worried about her leaving me that I even let her read this thread. She was impressed that I could pull it off so smoothly, but she wants me to stop. She says that she will support me and won't leave me as long as I don't do it again.

I think that I have finally stopped. I promise that I won't do it again. I might have gotten away with it 100% of the time before, but even though I got out of this unscathed, I just don't want to do it anymore.

I want to thank everyone for making this thread possible. You really inspired me to be a better thief and to always be careful. I still have a few items left from my last anonymous shoplift. Unfortunately, I won't have anymore items to post.

I appreciate all of the private messages that I received and I am sorry if I didn't respond to everyone. I was getting too many requests for advice. Everyone made it seem so easy, but they just don't know how thrilling and addicting it is once you feel that rush.

I like to think that I was the world's most likable common thief. Thank you to my wife for being understanding. My next post will be my obituary.
