Investigator broke into my Dad's house

My dad recently hired a private investigator to follow his next-door neighbors because he has been hearing knocking on his walls, and he believes that they are pranking him and trying to drive him insane. My dad has 2 cats and 1 dog, and a week after he hired the investigator, he noticed that all of his animals were missing. He managed to locate the dog but the cats were nowhere to be found.<br><br>My dad realized that the investigator had somehow entered his house and stole his cats and the dog to make it seem like the neighbors had done it. My dad ended up asking where my stepmom was, and it turns out she was at the investigator's house the whole time. The cops arrested both the investigator and my step mom, and my dad is still trying to locate his cats and is considering a divorce.<br><br>I'm just wondering if there could be more to the story that my dad is not telling us, or if this is a glitch. (Also the cats are fine now)
