The medieval fantasy cash cow needs to die.

When I look around, I am met with the frustrating sight of people piggybacking off of the same medieval fantasy story over and over and over again. Tolkien did this, but better. If you think you can do it, do it better, do it differently. Create a unique twist on things or create a different historical setting with a unique spin.

Make a fantasy story set in the Mayan Golden Age. Make a fantasy story set in the Italian Renaissance. Make a fantasy story set in ancient India or modern-day Morocco.

Hell, make a story set in a completely different universe and time. Make a space opera, create something weird and completely different.

The medieval fantasy story has been done to death. If you cannot create a unique spin on it or create something different, then you should not be creating.
