I was debating whether to post this here or r/TrueOffMyChest, but I think the sub related to this is equally important as the aspect that it's true.

The United States is slowly turning into the Handmaid's Tale. By that I mean, particularly, women's reproductive rights. I know people have very strong opinions on this, but allow me to tell a story that happened in real life that I personally know about, and you will understand.

One of my classmates from high school had been in a relationship with her bf for about 4 or 5 years. Long story short, he was a piece of shit. He was cheating on her, and on top of that, he would physically abuse her, and even raped her once. They broke up, and a couple of months later, my classmate found herself pregnant. It was from the rape. Now, her family is very conservative and religious, and she has a strict father who doesn't tolerate anything. He told her that she needed to have the child or he would disown her. My classmate tried to argue that it was rape and she shouldn't be forced to have her rapist's baby, but her dad shut her up and told her that the baby was immaculate and from God. I'm not joking, this is what he said. My classmate ended up having the baby, and the story is very complicated, but she ended up alone with her baby and working to support herself with a minimum-wage job. She was 22 and was back living with her parents, and her baby was born with a disability. She was struggling to cope with everything. I will always remember what she told me during conversation one day, it was "I wish I could've had the choice." Honestly, my heart broke. I didn't know what to say, but inside I was raging. Why the fuck should some piece of shit politician have the right to take away someone's choice? Someone who was RAPE and was FORCED to have their rapist's child... My classmate ended up moving away from the city, but I saw her on my street once. She was holding her child and looked like a zombie. I don't know how her life is now, but I will never forget her and it sickens me to think how many women in the US are forced to go through what she went through.

Some of you may think it's controversial, but it shouldn't be, and it's every woman's right to have the choice. This is honestly a very important aspect of feminism and women's rights. I was always taught that it's everyone's choice to practice their religion however they want. Well, for Christians, God said "Thou shalt not rape." So where is the choice for the victim, who is religious, to not have the baby? There is none. It's taken away.

The side-by-side comparison to real life and the Handmaid's Tale is very scary, because it's so close and possible. The society depicted in The Handmaid's Tale is a very conservative religious society where women who were *raped* are seen as the ones who committed the sin, not the rapist. They are sent away to farms to give birth and their children are taken away from them. The United States is turning into this, slowly, and Trump is a big cause of this. He is a very conservative man who is slowly shredding away women's rights. Now, I am not saying that he made abortion illegal, but abortion is slowly being outlawed on the state level, and abortion clinics are dwindling away. It seems that there is nothing to stop this from happening.

Some of you may say, "But what about Plan B?" Plan B is *not* abortion. Plan B is a *prevention.* This is not widely taught in schools and is a common misconception. Plan B is, in fact, the morning after pill, and when taken within 72 hours after having sex, helps prevent pregnancy. What Plan B does is prevents the sperm from entering the egg, or prevents the egg from being produced altogether. This is not a form of abortion. There is a time and place for everything, and this is the time and place for abortion. Abortion is necessary, when someone is raped, or when their life is in danger. Some of you may say it's the woman's fault because she was wearing revealing clothing, but that is the perspective of 5-year olds, because it is NEVER the fault of the rape VICTIM. Never. It is the rapist's fault 100%. Some of you may also say that it's the woman's fault because she was having unprotected sex. This is also the perspective of 5-year olds. Both Parties, not just the woman, are at fault. But when someone is *raped*, why the fuck does the rapist not go to jail, and the rape victim get blamed?? I am so fucking sick of this. Sick. I am sick to the point that I am shaking with rage as I write this. It makes me so angry. I can't even write this without stopping to take a deep breath and count to 10 and calm down. If you ever see someone blaming a rape victim, call them out on it. It is NOT the victim's fault. It is NEVER the victim's fault. It is NEVER the woman's fault.

Sorry to all the conservatives here, but I don't give a flying fuck about what you have to say. I will never consider your point of view, and you will never change mine. I am a feminist, and my opinion will never change. I will stand with every woman, every rape victim, every woman who is forced to have a baby that is not hers, every abused woman. I will never take my stance down, and I will never back off. It makes me sick that you would think you have the right to take away a woman's choice. It makes me sick.

I will never apologize for being a feminist. I am a feminist because I am a human being.

If you are a conservative, and you still think you have the right to take away a woman's choice, I suggest you read this and get off my post and never come back. If you are still here, and you agree with this, thank you. Keep fighting with me.
