I'm a mental health therapist(f48)who has jumped back into dating (males) after a ten year dating hiatus.

I've met a few men, taken some time getting to know them, and then watched them suffer mental breakdowns.

One was suicidal, another had a manic episode, another is severely depressed and has auditory hallucinations.

I'm starting to feel concerned for our society as a whole. These were all in the 40s decate, and all had jobs and were functioning. I've never met so many men in my life who are having serious mental breakdowns.

I feel hopeless because I know there's not enough mental health services to go around. I'm worried about the men I've met, and also worried about the state of our society as a whole. What's going to happen in the future? Are we going to have a world filled with men self medicating with alcohol and cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms?

I'm worried because if I, a clinician, have met this many men in the few months I've been dating, it must be a widespread problem. It's scary to think about.
