AITA for telling my brother to pay me for my time before he gets the house?

My brother and I inherited our family home after our parents died. It was a lovely home that had plenty of memories for both of us and our families. The problem is after our folks passed away, the house was left in disrepair. Figuring out the costs to fix everything the house needed, fixing it, and hiring a realtor to sell it was a full slate of work. Since I live in the same town as the house, and my brother lives a few states over, it only made sense for me to handle the work.

I have done everything, from getting quotes from handymen, replacing the roof, getting the floors refinished, hiring a realtor, everything. My brother runs a good chunk of his own business so when I need paperwork signed and what not, it's usually a day or so later till I get anything from him. He has been pretty good about paying me back, although the last check for $500 took 4 weeks to arrive. I don't mind if he takes time to send me the money, but I do mind him using the money.

I live paycheck to paycheck. If I have to hire a handyman, or the realtor needs their fee paid, I have to use my own money. That means I need to wait for my brother to pay me back. In order to pay my own bills I have to wait for my brother to send me the money. I will admit that I didn't calculate well the first time he paid me back. It was higher than I thought because the realtor fumbled some paperwork and that held things up. It was my fault, but I paid my bills, and that money was gone by the time he finally sent me the check.

I got a call from the realtor the other day that a couple was really interested in the house and they wanted to make an offer. I got home from work and saw the email was sent earlier that afternoon. I printed out the email, signed the document and dropped it off with the realtor. When I got home I sent my brother a text.

"Hey, need you to send me that money so I can pay the realtor. They have a buyer for the house."

He called me instead and asked me what I was talking about. I asked him if he saw the email from the realtor and he told me he was in the middle of a meeting. He said he would send the money when he got a chance to. I asked him if he could send it now because I was going to have to pay the realtor and I didn't have enough for the fee. He said he was in the middle of a meeting and would send it when he could. I told him I was going to have to pay the realtor anyway, and if he didn't get me the money I would have to use the money from the buyers.

He got mad and said the money from the buyers was his, and that I couldn't touch it. I told him it was either that, or he pay me for my time since I have spent more time on this house than he has. He told me to keep the house if I thought it was so valuable. I said that isn't what I want. I want to be paid for my time, just like he does for his. He called me an asshole and hung up.

I called the realtor and told her that the money was being held up, and that it would be a few days. She said that would be fine, but she would need my brother's signature before proceed. I told her I would get it to her.

Now it's been three days. I haven't heard a word from my brother. From what I can tell he is trying to intimidate me into doing the work without him paying me. That if I don't do the work, I'll lose the house. From what I can tell, he is doing this to make it seem like I am the bad guy in all this. AITA for not moving forward with the realtor?
