To preface, I’ve seen a ton of threads on this sub regarding the morality of parents killing their children if they develop life threatening illnesses/disabilities that are extremely painful. Here are my thoughts on the matter. I would love to be proven wrong because otherwise, it’s just a disturbing future we’re heading towards. I understand that I’m going to get a lot of hate for this, but I just want to provoke a discussion on this matter. I’m not a parent but I do have younger cousins I love a lot, and I would never consider this even if they developed a horrible disease. However, I do understand that parents are under a lot of pressure, and it’s hard to make the right call when you’re under so much stress. I’d love to hear both sides of the argument.

Parents with children who develop life threatening illnesses/disorders should be allowed to kill their children as it would be more humane in the long run. There are many instances where children develop such horrible diseases/disorders that they cannot live without constant medical equipment (for example, breathing tubes, etc) and are often in agonizing amounts of pain. This also places a huge burden on the parents to pay for their treatments and to care for them, which is very difficult if the child is only going to suffer more and eventually die in a horrible manner. I’m not saying all parents would take this route, but it should certainly be an option, as it would be more humane in the long run.

Edit: I should’ve phrased this as killing children before they develop life threatening illnesses/disorders.

Edit: I should’ve also clarified that I mean diseases/disorders which cause immense pain and a large burden for the parents, such as epilepsy, etc.
