Why do so many productivity articles say to do such big tasks, when in order to develop a habit you have to do something so small it’s stupid and you would laugh at a friend who had to do it?

“What’s your morning routine? - I wake up, then I do 100 push ups. Then I do 50 pull ups. Then I cook a breakfast and do some yoga. All before 7am. Then I work for a couple of hours and by the time the afternoon rolls around I’ve done all these things and I feel really accomplished. It’s called being a morning person”.

How can you expect to be able to get all of that done before work if you’re just a regular person and not a professional athlete? It’s so unachievable for someone who doesn’t already do a lot of things in the morning.

If you want to do 100 push ups a day, surely you have to start really small if you’ve never done it before, like doing 1 push up a day so it becomes a habit.
