What will happen to Country with shrinking population?

I just read article China's Population Shrinks by 850,000 in 2022 as Birthrates Continue to Fall.<br><br>I am curious to know what will happen if population of any country keeps shrinking. I could not think of any positive outcome. It will lead to less working people, and hence increased burden on them as more old population. It will also lead to less consumerism, and hence less manufacturing. Hence, economy will go down and down.<br><br>What's your take on this?
