God damn people still go on and on saying if a language is not slavic or Japanese it is "easy" and rank the most difficult languages to learn with minimal research... I mean, if you followed this sub you would know that over 50% of the difficult languages to learn are European, but people are going to go on about how Germanic languages are "easy" and that English is a Germanic language and thus isn't "hard".<br><br>Also, the US Foreign Service Institute rankings have been thrown around for a long time and have never been updated because they have no idea what "difficult" is, you can't compare a Germanic language to a Sino-Tibetan language and then compare these to Niger-Congolese languages, you just need to stop.<br><br>Edit: the historical view is too high for this post, it has over 20k historical views
