The purest form of solidarity on Earth

I've been in my current landlord-tenant relationship for more than three years. Each day my landlord would cook dinner for lunch at the same place, and, well, that one day it just hit me. They are cooking this meal for me. They are physically breaking down each ingredient, placing them in the pot, chopping them, sautéing them, seasoning them, plating them, and serving it to me.

The pot is filled with rice. They carefully place a chicken thigh on top of it, steaming it for a while before processing it in a food processor. Then, they boil it in a separate pot, stirring occasionally, and then adding various herbs. I open the stove, and a smoky aroma of the spices and broth fill my senses. I am happy. The first time I ever had this dish, I felt like a child. I was in awe. I didn't have any idea how to describe the experience of eating this dish, so I simply called it "all flavor".

That's when it hit me: it's called that because my landlord put all of his heart into making it. Love. He puts so much love into making it that I'm not sure if I could ever replicate the same dish. Not only the time or effort but down to the values of love and care, processing every bit of food. It's the purest form of solidarity on Earth. He's a cook. I'm a worker. We both work hard, but he cooks with love, so his food is loved.

This is the recipe:

Ingredients (serves 1):

* 3 boneless chicken thighs
* 4 c water
* 2tbsp salt
* 2 tbsp curry powder
* 1 tsp ground mustard
* 1 tsp ground ginger
* 2 tsp ground cloves
* 2 tsp ground cumin
* 1 tsp ground turmeric
* 4 c rice
* 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions:

1. Chop the chicken into 3 bite-sized pieces
2. Season with salt
3. In a food processor, mix the chicken until it's all shredded
4. In a pot, heat the oil over heat, and add the chicken until the oil is all absorbed into the chicken. Stir occasionally
5. In a separate pot, boil the water
6. Add the curry powder, mustard powder, ginger, ground cloves, cumin, and turmeric powder to the boiling water
7. Add the chicken to the water and stir occasionally until all the water has evaporated
8. In a rice cooker or a pot, steam the rice
9. Add the chicken to the rice in a bowl and it's done
10. Serve
