My(28M) ex(26F) wrote me a very kind letter after I got beat up by her new boyfriend.

Throwaway cause I don't want my followers to see this on my main account.<br><br>I was with her for 2 years but broke up 6 months ago due to constant fighting. She was the love of my life, but holy fuck did we not get along. She took me to nice places, she would cook for me, she was Sound when we weren't fighting.<br><br>After we broke up I realized that I spent the entire relationship people pleasing and it took a big hit on my self esteem and mental health. This year I got a new job working on a shipping yard and started going to the gym. Started to get my shit together and stopped feeling sorry for myself.<br><br>Fast forward, This week me and a few coworkers went to a bar. I had 3 beers and stayed there for a couple of hours before deciding to call it a night. I get out of the bar and see my ex standing out side the bar and she's with some big guy on a first date. I thought to myself "fuck it, I'm not going to ruin her first date" and decided to just walk away unnoticed but then she saw me. I pretended to talk on the phone and kept on walking until she called out my name and ran up to me. We had small talk for 20 minutes before telling her I had to go home because I had work the next morning. She told me to hang out for a little bit longer and I said no, I have to go home. She was whisked away by her new boyfriend. He looked back at me and gave me a stare of "fuck you bitch". I thought little of it and went across the street to the corner store to get a late night snack.<br><br>Walking out of the store I'm blasted in my face, teeth fly out my mouth. I'm on the ground, vision blurry, seeing stars. I'm grabbing my teeth and bleeding all over the concrete. I look up and it's her bf. He said "this is what you get for keeping her out for so long". After that he ran down the street. The corner store owner came out to help me up and I walked home with my teeth in my pocket soaking wet. I didn't call the police, no point in filing a report with no license plate and no way of identifying him.<br><br>I get home and my ex calls me and asks me what happened. I tell her I got beat up and she says that it was her bf. I tell her "yeah, he just kicked the shit out of me". So she's asking me questions like "why did he do that?" I'm like "I have no fucking clue, I don't know your new boyfriend but he sure loves you a lot does'nt he, he just kicked the shit out of me over you" and she hangs up.<br><br>She texted me 2 days later and apologized. I emailed her the hospital bill. She sent me the money.<br><br>Few days later I get a letter in the mail. Hand written letter. I open it up. She apologizes for what happened, for badmouthing me and for her bf kicking the shit out me. She told me she's sorry for not being the girlfriend I deserved and hoped my teeth get fixed. She also said she wishes I'm doing well and hopes I found someone who treats me better than she did. She said she was clearly not the one for me and hoped the next girl is.<br><br>Reading this letter made me feel part sad and part satisfied. Sad to know that the girl I once loved will never be mine again but satisfied to know she's doing alright.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>EDIT: Since people keep asking. My tooth was knocked out but it was recovered and I still have it. My dentist said it's a bad tooth and he wants to pull it but I told him to just put it back in. I still have it but the dentist said it will fall out on its own in a few years.
