My small town just opened up an expensive Walmart with a huge grocery section that will probably be the end of the local Walmart, Kroger and Costco.

One of the local tv stations had a reporter who did a comparison chart between Walmart and Costco.

The result that they were nearly the same on price especially when including the Costco membership in the equation.

I was at Costco this last weekend and I noticed that they were downsizing some of their items to increase the price.

I did a price comparison between Costco and the dollar store and found that some of the items were the same price and in some cases the dollar store was cheaper.

This led me to checking how many times I can reuse certain items.

1. Ziplok bags - I reuse mine as long as it is clean. I've even washed them and hung them up to dry to reuse them.

2. Bread bags. I reuse bread bags to cleanup after our dog. We can reuse them 6 or 7 times before they tear.

3. Paper towels. I use rags instead of paper towels. Paper towels are ok if you want to spend more money than you really need to.

4. Tupperware and plastic containers. I wash and reuse mine until they crack. I've only replaced 1 over the years.

5. Razors - I clean mine with WD 40.

6. Used tissues. I use my old tissues to wipe up spills around the house. I've been doing this for years and I really can't tell a difference between a used tissue and a new tissue.

7. Old clothes. I only throw away clothes that are beyond repair. Goodwill will take clothes in any condition so I donate all of my old clothes. They will either resell them or use the material to make new clothes.

8. Buttons - I save all of my buttons and sew a new button hole if the old one has frayed.

9. Jar lids - I save all my lids and use them as coasters.

10. Coffee grounds. I collect and save my coffee grounds. I use them to kill ants in my yard. I put the coffee in a jar of water and mix it up and then put the coffee mixture in a spray bottle. I kill the ants by spraying the coffee mixture directly on the ants.

11. Clorox wipes - I wash mine and save them in a jar.

12. Old socks. I cut the feet off my old socks and use them as cleaning rags.

13. Dryer sheets - I've been reusing mine for 3 years now. I save my dryer sheets in a plastic container and then toss it in the dryer with a new dryer sheet.

14. Old toothbrushes. I use my old toothbrushes to clean between my windows. I also use them to clean hard to reach areas of my refrigerator, range and furniture.

I'm frugal because I want to be not because I have to. I've worked hard to get to where I am and I save money because I don't want to waste my money.

I'm not cheap. I'm frugal and it's not a bad thing.

Anybody else have ways that they reuse things.
