Men, what are you doing on Valentine’s Day?

I was doing an interview for a job I will love and start on Feb 9th, but they just told me they cannot hire me because they are hiring someone who can be in the office on Feb 14th. I’m in the middle of a divorce so I cannot change my parenting schedule for that day, and they don’t want to risk having a remote worker once our new contract starts and they need everyone in house. It sucks, but it’s the sort of job that everyone wants so they were willing to wait until they found the right candidate.

Yesterday, the HR manager called me and asked if I was still looking for the job and if I had remembered they were hiring for the contract… turns out the woman they hired cannot start until March 1st and they have a client meeting on Feb 14th that requires in office workers NB: this is the government contract, so no remote possible. She wanted to see if I still wanted the opportunity so that they do not have to do another round of interviews she’s not sure if they’ll find someone in time.

I am so excited to work in this role, and she said that HR will work with me to make sure that the company is fair with my schedule as a single parent which would be a huge stress off my plate. It feels like the universe is telling me I am meant to work here.

So all of this is the long story to ask, men, what are you doing on Valentine’s Day?
