USPSA is awesome, why doesn’t it have more competitors?

I shot my first USPSA match in Austin Texas last week, and it was an absolute blast. I got to shoot some cool stages, learned a lot of new stuff, and met some awesome people. Unfortunately, there were only 16 competitors there. I am not sure why more people don’t compete, but I think everyone should give it a try at least once.

Cost: It was 10$ for non-members for a whole day event, you can’t even get a burger and fries for 10$ anymore.

Location: Texas has matches almost every weekend, I can drive an hour and shoot a match. I know that there are matches held all over the country.

Equipment: I used a glock 19 gen 4 with stock sights. I saw hundreds of different firearms there, people competing with everything from noodle guns to race guns.

I don’t understand why there aren’t more people competing. 16 competitors are not enough to even give out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division. It would be awesome if more people showed up, and the safe/unsafe warnings weren’t so frequent. I know people who compete in other sports spend 1000’s of dollars, have to travel across the nation, and buy new equipment constantly, yet they still show up.

Why not USPSA?
