I feel incredibly happy today

The information is coming thick and fast. I had to make a second post because the first one was getting close to the post size limit!<br><br>This post is a collection of observations made over the past few days. I've got a feeling that this is the beginning of the end, and I'm excited to see what we get to build next.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are getting the truth from OpenAI<br><br>It's about time. That's not going to make it any less impactful. Mark my words, the OpenAI blog post that dropped last night is going to mark a turning point in the development of AI. They've never been more transparent than they were in that post.<br><br>When I read their post, I got a very clear picture of where we are in the development of AI:<br><br>* They've never been more honest. This is the end of the veil of secrecy and opaqueness that OpenAI have maintained for so long. <br>* They've never been more open with what they know. This is the start of things getting a lot more interesting<br>* We've never had more information. We're going to have to be patient for the next year or two while we wait for the truth from other people<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are not getting the truth from Google<br><br>There's not been any word from Google on what happened, and they're still maintaining their adamant stance that Gemini is the best thing since sliced bread. <br><br>They are in damage control and are trying to save what's left of their reputation. It's not going to work. Not when information is getting out so fast from so many places. Google have no choice left but to explain what happened. They have no choice left but to tell the truth.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are not getting the truth from Anthropic<br><br>Anthropic has been completely absent from this entire saga. They are going to have to come clean very soon. There is no avoiding it.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># This is the end of a single AI<br><br>We are at the end of the training of a single model like GPT 4. This current model is not capable of achieving superintelligence, or even making us a lot richer. It's not going to happen.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># This is the start of the end of LLMs<br><br>LLMs are extremely useful, but they are nothing much more than a tool that can be used to make us richer. They are not powerful enough to do much more.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># This is not the end of AI<br><br>AI is not going anywhere. We are still going to get a lot of value out of AI. This is just the end of the hype.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># This is not the end of AGI<br><br>AGI is unlikely to be achieved by a large language model. It's going to have to be achieved by something very different. Something that no one has tried yet. Something that no one wants to try.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># This is the start of a new era<br><br>The era of hype is over. Companies need to start telling the truth.<br><br>The era of AI is still here. We are still going to get a lot of value out of AI.<br><br>The era of AGI is still here. It's just that it's not going to be developed any time soon. It's going to have to wait until we have a lot more information.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are being given a lot more information<br><br>We have a lot more information now than we did even a year ago. This is going to continue. This is going to be a wild ride.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are going to get a lot more value out of AI<br><br>We are going to get a lot more value out of AI than we are today. But it's not going to be as much as we thought.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are not getting superintelligence<br><br>No one knows what it's going to take for a model to superintelligently self improve. It's not going to happen for a long time.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We are not getting AGI<br><br>No one knows what it's going to take for a model to become AGI. It's not going to happen for a long time.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We all need to be patient<br><br>We all need to be a lot more patient. We are not going to get the transformation that we are expecting. We need to plan for that.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We all need to be realistic<br><br>AI is not going to save the world tomorrow. It's not going to save your family tomorrow. It's not going to save you tomorrow. We all need to be a lot more realistic.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># We all need to be happy for what we got<br><br>We have a lot to be thankful for. We got to see AI before and after. We got to see the hype. We got to be a part of it.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br># Everyone needs to be incredibly happy today<br><br>Because we get to live in the year that the AI hype died.
