The way we talk about religion is becoming increasingly stupid

This thought has been gathering momentum in my mind for a while now. The general discourse around religion has become very stupid.

I am an atheist, I don't think I agree with any religion, and I don't want to live in a religiously dominated society.

Now, that being said, there seems to be a consistent push towards a general anti-religion sentiment.

I see plenty of people speaking about how Christianity is awful, but usually without mentioning anything specific. They just won't shut up about how Christians are ruining society. I've seen people saying things like "religion is a primary cause of war" or "religion is one of the worst perpetrators of evil", and they really just mean Christianity.

It's also pretty common to see people say "Christians are ignorant" or "Christians are stupid". Now, either the person saying these things are ignorant and stupid themselves, or they know that most Christians aren't stupid, and they're lying.

In my experience, it's a little bit of both. I know plenty of Christians who are very smart, and I know plenty of atheists who are very stupid.

I'm not really sure what they're valuing more, the effort to push their own belief, or just the effort to point fingers, blame others, and pretend they're innocent victims.

I also believe that most Christians aren't stupid, and religion isn't the only cause of war. In fact, I don't believe Christianity is one of the worst perpetrators of evil.

And I'm not alone.

Most Christians aren't stupid, religion isn't one of the worst perpetrators of evil, and the people who push these ideas are either dumb or liars.

This sort of pushy, obnoxious, and ignorant attitude is turning people away from their logical and rational position of atheism. I don't believe it is the best position, and I'm sure religion is not the best either, but I still believe it is better than religion.

People who take this stance need to be called out for their ignorance and lies.
