You vote third party in a two party system, you don’t know politics. You vote third party and expect to change the system? You’re a fool. Your vote for a third party candidate is a vote to get the candidate elected you don’t want.

We have never had a third party president in the US ever. It’s a two party system, don’t fool yourself into believing a third party candidate has a chance. They don’t. Vote for the candidate that has a chance of winning and best fits your values.

Edit: I wanted to consolidate my defense for two posts, I’ve defended this point in two places. It seems to be a recurring theme. There is a difference between a 3rd party candidate and an independent candidate. Washington was neither, he was part of the Federalist Party, yet that is the type candidate you would use as a 3rd party President argument. This difference matters. The reason the two party system is a problem is that the two parties collude together to keep third party candidates out of elections. Because of this, to be a third party President in the US, you would have to be an independent candidate like Martin Van Buren who ran as an independent and won a presidential election.
