App to track dangerous areas of a city

I'm an American living in central America and have recently heard of several instances where friends have been robbed at gunpoint. Knowing ahead of time which areas of a city are considered "no go" zones would be super valuable. I would think the app would work with users input and a map of the city. Maybe you are walking and a notification pops up letting you know the street you're on is a hotspot for petty theft. Maybe just that neighborhood is a place to avoid. It could even be a service that members pay for that are travelers. Would love to hear thoughts.
