How do I stop my wife from making me low effort food?

I’ve been married to my wife for over 10 years and we have five kids. I love my wife and I’m not trying to be a picky eater but we have the following situation.

I come home from a 12 hr shift and I don’t have an appetite but I have this growing feeling of dissatisfaction. I check the kitchen to see if she’s cooked supper…only to find out we’re having plain rice and kielbasa or scrambled eggs and cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…etc. I’m just not happy about it. If she can’t even be bothered to throw some rice and kielbasa in a pot with some tomato sauce then I’m not going to eat it. I’ll just have a protein bar or something.

I try to not complain because I know she’s tired from wrangling five kids but I have a growing feeling of resentment towards her. I don’t want her to feel like I’m attacking her but I also don’t want her serving me this lazy food anymore. My shift can be unpredictable and I might not get to eat supper until 10pm. I just want to eat and not have to think about it. How do I communicate with her what I want and expect?
