My daughter nicked my prep and I failed to make it last.

I was in the process of relocating from one state to another. I packed my lunches a week in advance to finish up my stock of groceries and did a 1,300 calorie meal prep for the 8 hour drive.

I had everything packed and was ready to leave. All that was left was to do a 24 hour load of clothes. My daughter comes into my room and says “Mom, can I bring your drinks and snacks?” And I was like “Sure” because I was pretty busy with doing the laundry. I didn’t think much about at the time, but in retrospect I really should have kept a closer eye on it. She’s a little burglar.

Sure enough 3 hours later my daughter has drunk my protein shake, ate a protein bar, eaten half the trail mix and eaten two energy gummies. I’m doing the laundry and wondering why I feel so hungry.

The drive ended up being pretty miserable. 2 hours into it, I’m feeling weak, hungry and way too tired to be driving. I had to eat way too much fast food along the way to feel okay. I just couldn’t make my prep last.

I guess the lesson of the day is that I should probably hide my snacks better.
