AITA for making my stepkids sleep in the hallway while I’m away?

My wife passed away a few years ago. She left behind two daughters, A (12) and B (15). I recently remarried to my beautiful wife C (40s) and got my two kids D (13) and E (10) a stepsister F (9) and stepbrother G (15).<br><br>We own a lake house and spend around 2-3 weeks in it during the summer. My father recently passed away, leaving me and my sister with a house and a beach house. We decided to keep the beach house but rent it to others as neither of us is able to constantly go there and maintain it. I decided to take my family to the beach house for a week as a “test” to see if it is in good condition and if we need to hire someone to maintain it in our place.<br><br>I announced the trip a month ago, and asked everyone to pack their bags and get ready. A and B were not happy, and said they wanted to go to the lake house instead. I said it was too hot and that it’s not a good idea. They asked if they could stay behind and I said it was not a good idea and that I don’t want to split the family. They began throwing tantrums until I lost my temper and said:<br><br>“Then all of you will sleep in the hallway until I come back. You clearly don’t Obey me and don’t appreciate anything I do for you. You will sleep in your bathroom if that, but I won’t be leaving any of you behind.”<br><br>They were shocked into silence and didn’t say anything until I left. I came back home to find them sleeping in the hallway as punishment, but when I asked why they didn’t sleep in their rooms, they said they were trying to get closer to me. My son D told me that A and B have been throwing him and E around and being generally mean to them. I’m not sure what to do. AITA for making my girls sleep in the hallway as punishment?
