The USA suicide hotline is terrible and shouldn’t be promoted

I know a bunch of doctors and celebrities and pretty much everyone else is all for giving just about everyone the number to the suicide hotline and pretending they are helping.

I’ve called them myself and I’ve had zero help from them. They just ask for my name, phone number and some basic details, and then tell me they’ll have someone call me back in a few hours.

They did absolutely nothing to help me when I needed help. And I’m not the only person. They claim they can’t help everyone but they won’t even try to. Sending someone to a website is not helping them. Having someone call them back when they are in need of help hours or days later won’t help someone in need of help right now.

I used to give them out to people until people started telling me how unhelpful they were when they called them.

If you need help, ask a friend or family member. Or go to a hospital. At least there, you have people who care who will talk to you.
