It's Getting Weird

I don't know when it really started, but I think it's been around for long enough that we can conclude it's getting weird.

Slowly, this whole "AI that isn't GPT-4" trend is catching on. Those other models don't even need to be that good- they just need to be cheaper, right? Or maybe they need to be better and cheaper?

Either way, the normals are catching wind of this idea that a single company doesn't own all of AI. It's even cooler to be contrarian and support the challengers. So much so that Microsoft seems to be getting a bad rap. "Oh, you're still using Bing AI? That's cute."

I was told OpenAI would expand the moat, or at least that was the PR from a few months ago. It seems like that's not happening. As the "slow" models become "fast" they'll spread like wildfire.

"Slow" is code for 'there's no sugar water to make em go fast'. We need new words.

What do you think? Is this a trend that will die down, or do you think that other AI models will eventually be widely adopted?
