What is the meaning of the names of your fictional cultures?

So I was sitting here with a friend building a world, and we were looking for names for some fictional cultures in the world. And I had the idea for a culture that is heavily influenced by (but not identical to) ancient Greek culture, but also has a strong magical component. I searched for names, and then I had the idea that I would name that culture after a Greek word for magic. I finally settled on Mageia (마게이아), which is what the Greeks called the Magi, but is also the Greek word for "magic" used in the Bible. My friend then pointed out that Mageia sounds vaguely Slavic, which solved a problem with a different part of the continent where we wanted a Slavic analogue to the Holy Roman Empire, but didn't have a name.<br><br>After that, I started wondering what other people call the cultures in their worlds and what the meaning of those names are.<br><br>So my question is: What do the names for the cultures in your world mean?<br><br>Edit: I would also like to try to collect your answers in a small list in this post, so please respond with the name of the culture, and the meaning of that name (preferably formatted as in the example below), and I'll add it to the list.<br><br>As of the last update, We have names from 4/6 continents and 4/7 lankets.<br><br>Here are the names that I have found so far:<br><br>* Mageia (마게이아) - Ancient Greek for "Magic"<br>* Valtoria (발토리아) - Spanish for "I will rule" (name of a (former) Spanish Colony)<br>* Elian (엘리안) - Hebrew for "my God has answered"<br>* Adelantado (아델란타도) - Spanish for "One who is advanced"<br>* Arbacia (아르바시아) - Basque for "the new town"<br>* Azura (아즈라) - Arabic for "blue"<br>* Miratobia (미라토비아) - Latin for "to be wondered at"<br>* Mirabel (미라벨) - Occitan/French for "wonderful"<br>* Teku (테크) - Japanese for "virtue/principle"<br>* Tautra (타우트라) - Norwegian for "mud flat" (name of the island where a famous battle took place)<br>* Selvendom (셀벤돔) - Norwegian for "self rule/home rule"<br><br>Please share more cultures and their names, and maybe we can get enough to fill up the map I posted above.
