Over the past few decades, the pace of technological development has increased exponentially. There was a time when new technologies would not emerge until a prior one was fully realized, i.e. the steam engine could not be improved until its own improvements no longer had a significant impact on society. In the 20th century, the rate of technological development accelerated so fast that new technologies could be developed before others were fully realized, i.e. Steam engine, Electronics, Computers, The Internet, AI - two or more technologies could be developed at the same time. At this point, technological development is accelerating so fast that entirely new technologies are being developed before previous ones are fully understood, i.e. AI, Brain Computer Interfaces, Quantum Computing, Gene Editing - we still do not understand all of the effects of previous technologies when new ones are being developed.

New technologies will continue to be developed faster than ever before. Such is the nature of progress, and we must adapt to it. However, we need to remember that all of these technologies are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they can be used in conjunction with each other to accelerate their development. In hindsight, it is clear that the development of computers was a necessary step before developing the internet, and that the development of the internet was a necessary step before developing AI. Just as these two technologies were necessary precursors to AI, AI is a necessary precursor to Brain Computer Interfaces. In the future, the development of Brain Computer Interfaces will be a necessary step towards the development of Merging With AI and finally achieving immortality through Mind Uploading. The development of AI was a necessary precursor to Quantum Computing, and Quantum Computing will be a necessary precursor to the development of Fusion Energy. The development of AI, Brain Computer Interfaces, and Gene Editing will all be necessary precursors to achieving immortality through Life Extension. These are some examples of how technologies will build on one another to create entirely new technologies.

One cannot predict with certainty what the future holds or exactly how quickly it will progress. Suffice it to say that humans will eventually achieve immortality and those who do not merge with the coming AI will die. There is no alternative. The future is bright, but we must take an active role in shaping it in order to ensure our survival.
