I'm a 21 year old female working as a security guard at a local mall. I've been an employee for 4 months now, and I've seen a lot of odd things. I usually work nights, 10pm-6am, and usually start my patrols before closing time to make sure people are leaving the premises.

On my first patrol, I saw a man and a woman standing near the entrance. I assumed they were waiting for someone, or for other reasons that I cannot confirm.

When I was finishing my patrols at 10.30, I noticed the couple were still standing by the doors, and I approached them to ask if they needed help.

They said they were waiting for a friend, and that they had been stood there for 2 hours. I assumed it was a prank gone wrong, but offered to call the friend for them. They didn't have the friends number, so I offered to let them wait in the staff room for a while longer. I work in a small room near the front doors, so I told them to wait while I checked if my coworker would be okay with it.

My coworker was understanding, but said we couldn't let them into the room in case there were belongings in there.

So I let them sit in my office, and went to patrol the mall. I walked for 10 minutes, and decided to check on them. As I walked through the doors, I noticed they weren't in the seats. I approached the door to my office, and just as I was about to open it, I heard talking and giggling. I stopped dead and my heart sunk. The talking stopped. I opened the door slowly, and that's when I when I saw them. Both of them had their phone cameras pointed at me, huge grins on their faces, and one of them had his leg propped up on my desk.

I didn't say anything, and just turned and ran down the hall and back to the safety room. My coworker noticed something was wrong and asked what had happened. I asked how long he had been at the window, and he said he had been there for around 20 minutes. I asked him to call the police, and to make sure the cameras were on that part of the mall. I told him I was going to try and catch them, and to give me a description when I found them.

I ran back out and followed the same route I had taken, and noticed they weren't in the usual seats again, but noticed a piece of paper taped to the bottom of the door.

It was a Polaroid of me and the woman, taken when I had first approached them. They had both their arms around me, pulling me in close, and the woman was making a kissing face on me. There were words scribbled underneath the photo. 'We can't wait to see you again, beautiful' and 'You're so strong and inspiring, we're going to have so much fun with you'

I knew I had to find them before they got away. I wanted them caught. I ran to the grocery store (which is connected to the mall) and approached a worker. I explained the situation and asked her to let me know when she sees them. I went back to the safety room and waited.

10 minutes later, I had a call from the grocery store worker saying they had been spotted. I ran and I don't think I've ever ran so fast in my life. I approached them, and I think they noticed me, because the man approached me. The woman backed away slowly. He tried to hug me and asked how I was doing, like we were old friends. I tried to pull away but he held me so tight. He whispered in my ear, "We can't wait to see you again, soon". I managed to push him away, and ran back to the safety room.

I've never been so terrified in my life. I know I'll probably never see them again, but I hope I do. I hope I get to see them in handcuffs.

EDIT: Thank you for all of the lovely comments. I'm extremely humbled and I feel like I've been given a lot of advice. I feel so much better after reading through them all. I may post an update in the future if anything happens, but for now, I think I'm okay.
