From time to time, you guys come to ask for advice on what to do when you don't perform as well as you thought you would in an exam. I can't give you the best answer, but I'll try to give you some tips.

**Don't panic:**

99% of the time, it's not all bad. Your brain often makes things worse than it is. Take a break and have some fresh air. Relax, don't drink, don't binge eat pizza or something. Eat something healthy, or go for a walk outside. Relax first.

**Reflect**:

After you've relaxed, reflect on what happened. Why didn't you do well? Did you not study enough? Did you not sleep well? Did you not eat well?

Identify your mistake, try to rewrite your note/focus more on the difficult part.

**Don't compare yourself**:

You may think that your friends (or other students) did well. They may have done well, but it's not 100% true. They may be in the same situation as you and you don't know about it. We just want to hide our defeats and show our wins. Most people have this tendency. I'm sure you do too, so don't compare yourself.

**Don't give up**:

Even if you didn't do well in an exam, it doesn't mean that you will fail the entire exam. Work harder for the next assignment/exam. You may still be able to get good marks if you do well in the other assignments and exams.

**Talk to a teacher/professor**:

They have more knowledge than you. Talk to them and they can help you with your problem.

**Get support**:

You may have no one to talk to. If that's the case, I'm here for you.
