What's a thing you don't own that you used to think was necessary?

I used to work in an office, which was a 30 minute drive from my house. I would always bring a lunchbox and water bottle with me to work. But after I got a new job that's much closer to home (about a 10-minute walk), I never had to bring a water bottle or lunchbox to work with me ever again. And it never bothered me at all. I now realize that owning a lunchbox/water bottle is completely useless to me. You probably have something like this in your life too, what is it?
