I might get fired from a remote job; what’s the best way to find new remote work?

I’ve been working remotely as a customer support representative in the tech industry for 5 years with a North American company. My main company is a remote company and they treat their remote work as though we are actually in the office. I like this. I have also worked as a customer support representative in North America for a North American Company with 1.5 years of that time North American company being remote; but I was laid off when they decided to end remote work.<br><br>I’m currently in danger of getting fired from my job so I want to have a plan in place in case that happens so I don’t actually lose my job. I don’t have a plan in place but I’m hoping anyone in this sub can help me! I live in South East Asia and am currently a digital nomad. I have a tourist visa for this country and do not have the ability to get a work visa. I have never worked as a contractor but have always worked as a w2 employee for a North American company. <br><br>I’ve been looking on linkedin, indeed, we work remotely, flex jobs, reed, and I’m starting to think that finding a new remote job will be really hard. It feels like all of the jobs I can apply to on those websites are contractor jobs and I’m not sure if it is legal for me to be a contractor; but I’m certain it is not legal for me to work as a w2 employee for another North American company while living in South East Asia. From what I have learned about finding a remote job, it seems that most people who find remote work are contractors who were able to switch to remote work and then decided to switch to another remote job, but I do not have that route available to me. I’m starting to feel like I’m not going to find a remote job through these websites. <br><br>I need to find a w2 remote job; does anyone have any ideas on how I can do that? I’m feeling a little bit hopeless that I won’t be able to find a new remote job.<br><br>TLDR I might get fired from my job, I need to find a new remote job but can only find contractor jobs when I can only be w2. Help!
