Has anyone heard of the sinking feeling phenomenon experience when looking at a wall when falling asleep?

Hello everybody, I'm a long time lurker of the sub.
I've been trying to find information about a phenomenon I often experience when I'm falling asleep and can't find anything across the web. I'm hoping maybe someone in this sub might have experienced it as well.

It happens to me only when I'm falling asleep on my side. I have no idea why it doesn't happen when I'm sleeping on my back, but I'll generally start to feel a "sinking" feeling when I'm falling asleep. This might be when I close my eyes or when I shut my eyes and start to feel my body relax. That's when I'll start to feel this sinking feeling, but it doesn't feel like my body is sinking. I'm feeling sinking feeling in the wall (or whatever it is behind me.) It feels exactly like I'm sinking through the wall, but it's only in my mind.

I know this sounds kind of weird, and I'm sorry for the poor explanation, but it does feel like I'm sinking through a wall at a steady pace. I've also experienced mental visualizations of myself sinking through the floor where I'm not feeling the sensation, but rather visualizing myself going through the floor, but the wall feeling I experience is more of an internal feeling.

I've also experienced this sinking feeling when I'm awake and doing different activities, but in the "I'm sinking through the floor" variety. I'll experience this occasionally when I'm sitting in a chair and will feel myself sinking through the floor, or have a visualization of myself sinking through the floor. Sometimes the visuals don't have any sinking feeling associated with them, but are more of just a visualization of myself sinking through the floor.

It's not a localized feeling experience, and it isn't a feeling in my stomach. I've never experienced motion sickness, but from my understanding it's an inner ear issue. I experience a similar feeling when I'm sinking through the wall, but cannot pinpoint it. It's almost like a feeling of my whole body sinking, but without any physical sensation. It's 100% a mental phenomenon and not a physical one.

I can't seem to find any information about such a thing, but I'm hoping maybe someone in the sub will have experienced something similar, or can help me find information about it.
