It shouldn’t be this hard for folks to cook

I know I’m not the first person to say this but I don’t want to get political but lately I’ve started concentrating on budget cooking. I’ve been a line cook for over 20 years. I cook for a lot of people at my job. I’ve been experimenting with cooking on a budget and it makes me angry that it has to be this way. I can make healthy, so good 3 course meals for 4-6 people with good ingredients for 20-30$. You can do it. It’s not hard. It just takes some planning and time. I know that sometimes time is a luxury we don’t all have. I know I’m in a good spot in that I can walk out the door and be working if I wanted to be. I can work at any restaurant and make a good salary. I don’t have to worry about running out of money for groceries. It shouldn’t be this way for everyone. It shouldn’t be hard. It shouldn’t be scary to have to worry about money for food. I don’t have any answers I just started looking at how much things cost and have put together a meal planning routine. I started looking at the prices of food and making a monthly meal budget. It’s not hard. I feel like your average man of the house used to do this all the time. I’m not your average man of the house. I’m 6’1, covered in tattoos and do drugs. Fuck colonialism and your “gender roles”. Anyway, I feel like if we just talk about it more it would help more people cook at home and get away from processed food. I know I won’t get much traction here. I know a lot of people could care less. I know this is nothing original. What if we all just talked about it more. The grocery bills we pay, how much time we take planning, grocery shopping and cooking. It shouldn’t be this hard to stretch a dollar. It shouldn’t be this hard to feed your family healthy foods.

Edit: Well this kinda blew up. I appreciate all the feedback and added ideas. I’ll do my best to go through all of them.
